This stimulating subject combines fascinating content with a rigorous and scientific approach to investigation. Psychology A Level develops your ability to formulate an argument by presenting and critically evaluating research evidence.
This course offers you the opportunity to learn about the science behind human behaviour by understanding how research is conducted and used to develop theories and explanations of human behaviour. Students will then go on to explore the many different strands of Psychology such as social Psychology, cognitive Psychology and memory & case studies of brain damaged patients. You will also study biological Psychology, including the structure of the brain and the central nervous system and clinical Psychology with a focus on anxiety disorder, depression and OCD. By the end of the course students will have covered a wide range of other topics such as forensic psychology, attachment, gender, relationships, aggression, addiction and stress. Furthermore, you will also consider issues and debates that psychologists consider when attempting to explain complex and abstract human behaviours, such as schizophrenia.

Next Steps
A high proportion of our Psychologists go on to study Psychology or a closely related course at University. Psychology can help your career either directly or indirectly. Entry Requirements
Standard entry requirements, plus:
· Minimum Grade 5 Maths or Science
Students should show an interest in scientific explanations of human behaviour.
